What is Move4CP ?
Move4CP is about doing what moves you. It could be movement in the traditional sense, like walking, rolling in your wheelchair, or dancing. But it can be broader — doing something moving: volunteering, creating art, reading. Connect with your friends, colleagues, and family. And connect with yourself, too.
Move4CP welcomes everyone. All activities. All fitness levels. All abilities. Any location in the US.
If you think Move4CP is great fun – You are going love STEPtember.

Who is CPARF?
Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation (CPARF) is a nonprofit and a registered 501(c)(3) organization. We are the organization behind the Move4CP and STEPtember initiatives.
CPARF is the foremost organization in the world solely focused on cerebral palsy (CP) research. CP is the most common lifelong physical disability in the world, and it is one of the most underfunded.
The funds you raise during Move4CP and STEPtember will help us fund the brightest US researchers to move life-changing research forward, and change what's possible for cerebral palsy.
For more information on CP and the research we are funding today – visit cparf.org
What will my donations support?
All funds raised by participants are directed towards life-changing scientific advances for people with cerebral palsy, including research into the causes and treatment of cerebral palsy. The outcomes of our research ultimately impact the lives of thousands across the world.
How has Covid-19 and isolation impacted people with CP?
Because of COVID-19, so many people with CP are having an especially tough time right now. Thirty-three percent of them can’t walk, and many of them aren’t getting stretched or moving in the ways they’re used to. No matter their level of involvement, many people are experiencing increased pain, decreased function, and increased anxiety.
Why is moving forward with CP research even more important now?
Cerebral palsy doesn’t stop. People with CP are experiencing more stress and more pain, along with many continuing to miss crucial appointments. Finding new ways to treat their chronic pain takes on renewed importance at this time. It’s also essential that we look toward the future and uncover ways to change what’s possible for cerebral palsy. The research we fund will help people who are here now and people who will be. Our mission is as urgent as ever.
I posted my Move4CP challenge page to Facebook and added a Donate button - is that okay?
We advise that you don’t use the Facebook ‘Donate’ button to raise funds for Move4CP. Donations that go through your Facebook page are handled by a third party and we are unable to link these donations back to your challenge page. If you’ve already set up a post, we ask that you:
- Delete the post to remove the Facebook Donate button.
- Create a Facebook Fundraiser directly from your Move page.
- Follow these three easy steps and all your donations via Facebook will be connected to your Move Challenge page
Why aren’t my Facebook donations showing up on my fundraising page?
Make sure that you've 'Started a Facebook Fundraiser' directly from your Move page. For donations from your Facebook friends to appear on your Move Fundraising page - they must donate via the Facebook Fundraiser you create by connecting it to your Move page. Follow these three easy steps to start a Facebook Fundraiser.
How do I track and log my activity?
Your profile page includes your personal distance tally so you can track your daily moves towards your goal. This is a great way to keep your friends updated!
If you’re doing a creative or not particularly physical activity, it’s super easy to manually add your Move minutes or hours each day:
- Log in to your account and select My Fitness Activity tab.
- Under Add activity, enter the date and time
- The number of minutes or hours will now appear on your fundraising page!
If you are doing physical activity such as walking, adaptive sports, running, or yoga, your Move4CP page has been designed to connect with Fitbit and Strava apps to automatically add your hours each time you record physical activity.
Follow these steps to track your hours automatically:
- Download the Fitbit or Strava app and set up your account
- Log in to your Move4CP page.
- Under the heading ‘Connect your preferred Fitness app’, click your chosen app.
- Follow the prompts to connect your account
When you next work out, select ‘start your workout’ in the app on your phone. Once you end your workout, save your workout and your hours will be published to the tally on your page. This might take up to 12 hours.
If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.
When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ an activity and save it. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.
If you don’t have a fitness tracker, you can still track your activity via your smartphone app (i.e. Apple Health, Samsung Health or Google Fit), and manually add your hours of activity through the My Fitness Activity tab on your Move4CP page.
My fitness tracker is not syncing to my challenge page.
For your activity to be recorded and sync from your fitbit or tracker, you must start and stop each work out or session of activity you do. Please a allow 24 hours for your activity to appear on your dashboard.
My activity is not appearing on my page.
If your activity is not synching and appearing on your Move4CP challenge page;
- Go to your ‘My Fitness Activity’ page
- Ensure you have given permission for Move4CP to access your fitbit or Strava account.
- Remember to Start and Stop each activity from your app.
- Allow 24 hours for your activity to appear on your dashboard
If your activity is not appearing, you can manually add your hours and miles via the My Fitness Activity tab on your dashboard.
