I'm Running the NYC Marathon — And I Need Your Help
I'm running the NYC Marathon for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance's Athletes for Accessibility team and I need your support! I’m running not just for the challenge or the bucket-list of running a marathon (I'm sure this is my one-and-only!) —but for my son, Miles, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy earlier this year.
Miles has been a miracle from the start —our third baby, our little curveball in every way. Every moment since his first breath has been filled with uncertainty. Our world didn’t shift with his cerebral palsy diagnosis but our understanding of family certainly has.
Since his diagnosis, I’ve felt a deep need to channel all the energy and emotions that have come with this journey into something meaningful. So I’m lacing up my shoes and running—for Miles, and for every family navigating a CP diagnosis.
In our home, we don’t measure milestones the traditional way parents would with a new baby —we celebrate “Miles-stones.” Every smile, giggle, roll, and movement is a huge win for our boy. These moments have taught us more about resilience and joy than we ever imagined.
I know this is a test of my own strength as a mama. Every mile I run is powered by the hope I have for Miles’s future and the futures of so many others living with cerebral palsy. I'm running to raise funds that support groundbreaking research and accelerate the emergence of assistive technologies that will empower kids like Miles to move, play, communicate, and thrive.
Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation is doing incredible work to make the world more accessible and inclusive for people living with CP, and I’m proud to run in their name.
