I'm completing my challenge for CP research!
When I moved to the Seattle area last year, I made it a goal to explore the natural landscape and take up running again on the local trails in the area. The goal led me to sign up for my first trail marathon ever and my first marathon of any kind since 2017. To make it even more special, I'm using this run to fundraise and raise awareness for cerebral palsy research.
Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common childhood-onset physical disability in the world.
One in 323 babies is diagnosed with CP each year, an estimated related lifetime costs exceed $1.2 million per person.
Your generosity will accelerate groundbreaking research to treat, prevent, and ultimately cure this underfunded condition. There are several vital research programs, including:
- Training medical teams to detect cerebral palsy in babies as young as three months old, so they can get timely physical therapy.
- Supporting research into new chronic pain treatments and solutions for millions of people with CP
Cerebral Palsy is also closely connected with early birth and low-birthweight and is a condition that Nicole, Indigo, Darcy and I care about deeply.
